Getting started
How do I start my first workout?
Open Iron Karnet on your iPhone, pick a category — Strength, HIIT or Core — and choose a built-in workout or create your own. Tap start, and your live dashboard tracks reps, sets and heart rate as you go. To train from your Apple Watch instead, schedule the workout for today or add it to your favourites first; it'll then be ready to run on your wrist.
If I start a workout in the iPhone app, does it start on my Apple Watch too?
No. Starting a workout in the iPhone app runs it on your iPhone only — it does not launch or start the workout on your Apple Watch. To train from your wrist, start the workout on the Apple Watch itself, using one you've scheduled for today or added to your favourites. Each device runs its own session.
What if I leave my phone at home or in a locker — can I still start my workout on the Apple Watch?
Yes. Once a workout is scheduled for today or saved to your favourites, your Apple Watch can start and run it entirely on its own — your iPhone doesn't need to be nearby. Train with wrist-based heart rate, finish the session, and it syncs back to the iPhone app later, once your devices reconnect. The iPhone app is there for reference — such as reviewing exercise instructions — but you don't need it with you to complete a prepped workout on your wrist.
How do I connect a heart rate device?
You have options. With AirPods Pro 3, just wear them and make sure Heart Rate is turned on in iOS Settings → tap your AirPods → Heart Rate. If you start the workout on your Apple Watch, it streams wrist heart rate automatically. And with no device at all, your workout still tracks everything except heart rate.
Good to know: when you start a workout in the iPhone app, the Apple Watch does not use its heart rate sensor — use AirPods Pro 3 for heart rate on iPhone-started workouts.
How do I build or share a workout?
In the app, create a strength session by adding exercises and setting your reps, sets and target weights, then save it as a reusable routine. To share it, show its QR code to a friend — they can scan it to import your workout instantly. Building and sharing workouts is available on iPhone and iPad.
Devices & heart rate
Which devices does Iron Karnet support?
Iron Karnet runs on iPhone as your main training hub, with a native Apple Watch companion app. You can also track heart rate with AirPods Pro 3, and everything stays in sync through Apple Health. An iPad app is currently in development.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. Apple Watch gives you the full wrist-native experience, but it's optional. You can run a complete workout from your iPhone alone and still get live heart rate from AirPods Pro 3. Even with no heart rate device, every workout still tracks your sets, reps, volume and progress.
How does heart rate tracking work without an Apple Watch?
AirPods Pro 3 have an in-ear heart rate sensor that Iron Karnet reads during iPhone workouts — just turn on Heart Rate for your AirPods in iOS Settings. Your heart rate then appears live on your workout dashboard, exactly as it would from an Apple Watch.
Will an iPhone-only workout close my Apple Fitness Activity Rings?
Yes. When you track a workout on iPhone with AirPods Pro 3, it counts toward your Move and Exercise rings in Apple's Fitness app — no Apple Watch required. One note for Apple Watch owners: if you do an iPhone-and-AirPods-only workout, connect your Watch to your iPhone by midnight the next day so the ring credit reconciles correctly.
What can the Apple Watch app do?
The Apple Watch app is a companion for running workouts you've already set up on your iPhone. Schedule a workout for today or mark one as a favourite, and it's ready to run on your wrist — with a live dashboard showing your current exercise, sets and wrist-based heart rate. Building workouts, browsing the exercise library and reviewing analytics stay on iPhone.
Why isn't my Apple Watch tracking heart rate?
Wrist heart rate is used only when you start the workout on the Apple Watch. If you start a workout in the iPhone app, the Watch app does not use its heart rate sensor — for iPhone-started workouts, wear AirPods Pro 3 to get live heart rate. To use the wrist sensor instead, start the workout from your Apple Watch (using a workout you've scheduled for today or favourited).
What is the Lock Screen Live Activity?
When you start a session, Iron Karnet appears right on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island — showing your current exercise, set count and a rest timer counting down. You can log your next set with one tap, without unlocking your phone, and it runs alongside your music.
Will I see the Live Activity for a workout started on my Apple Watch?
No. The Lock Screen Live Activity and Dynamic Island appear only for workouts you start in the iPhone app. A workout started on the Apple Watch runs on the Watch and does not show an iPhone Live Activity.
Is there an iPad app?
An iPad version is in active development. Much of it is already in place — workout planning, the exercise library, building and sharing workouts, and all your health and progress tracking — with live workout sessions and heart rate support on the way.
Health, data & account
How does Apple Health sync work?
With your permission, Iron Karnet reads and writes data to Apple Health — including workouts, weight, water intake, supplements and body measurements. Sync happens automatically in the background, so you never have to enter data twice. You can manage exactly what's shared in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
How do I scan a supplement label?
In the Supplement Manager, tap to add a supplement and choose the scan option. Point your camera at the label and Iron Karnet uses on-device OCR to read the details, which you can then review and save.
Can I set hydration and supplement reminders?
Yes. Both the Water Tracking and Supplement modules let you schedule reminder notifications. Make sure notifications are enabled for Iron Karnet in iOS Settings → Notifications.
How do I manage my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled through your Apple ID. Open iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Iron Karnet to view, change or cancel your plan. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
How do I delete my data?
You can clear data inside each module, and you can revoke Apple Health access at any time in iOS Settings → Health. To request full deletion of any account data, email support@ironkarnet.app.
